11 Inspiring Quotes and Poem About Dealing With Rejection

on Glasses and it's Contents...

Check out this mind food when you need to pick yourself back up from rejection.

From Denny:  Rejection is one of the toughest situations people do to each other. It's inevitable. You don't get that job. You don't attract that person for romance. Even the family dog doesn't want to know you some days. Bad days happen and happen for a reason. Look at it this way. It sure makes those good times we experience that much sweeter because we have a stark comparison against which to measure it.

Like anything, Life gets easier if we take the time to reflect upon disappointments and rejection - but in a positive way. I was reminded recently of some people who rejected me when in college, though I accepted them wholeheartedly. Yet, all these years later it is just now these fellow women have realized they were being petty and insecure.

While I was sad at the time about what appeared to be rejection for no good reason it was these years later they revealed to me why they did what they did. Turns out it was jealousy, fear and insecurity. They had put me up on some imaginary inner plateau, assuming I was something I wasn't.

The short explanation is they really didn't have good people skills and could not "read" people well to properly assess my offer of friendship. Today they regret their rejection of the many good people in their lives, a pattern they found themselves repeating far too often. They now realize the source of their terrible unhappiness for so many years is because they rejected the good people capable of long term friendships in favor of the shallow mean-spirited people who later abandoned them to rejection.

I've always been blessed with an uncommon ability to see into people's hearts. I saw the best in them; I saw their talents long before they did. I also knew they had low self-esteem and the chances were high they would reject the friendship. I offered it anyway to give them the opportunity of choice and decision.

Lately, on the web, I've been running across many sites where people have been lamenting rejection, stuck as how to deal effectively with it. Their pain was palpable, weeping on the surface and interfering with living day to day. So, I sat down and thought a while about it and wrote a poem. There are also several favorite quotes listed about how famous people have learned how to rethink rejection and benefit from it.

Quotes

Life's blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm. - Norman Vincent Peale, Preacher and Author

I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. - Jimmy Dean, Actor, Singer and Businessman

I think that you have to believe in your destiny; that you will succeed, you will meet a lot of rejection and it is not always a straight path, there will be detours - so enjoy the view. - Michael York, actor

Don’t Take Anything Personally. Nothings others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. - Don Miguel Ruiz, New Age Author

Life is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood. - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Author, Poet and Philosopher

There's nothing like rejection to make you do an inventory of yourself. - James Lee Burke, American Author

Dear to us are those who love us... but dearer are those who reject us as unworthy, for they add another life; they build a heaven before us whereof we had not dreamed, and thereby supply to us new powers out of the recesses of the spirit, and urge us to new and unattempted performances. - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Author, Poet and Philosopher

True success is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful. - Paul Sweeney, Author

An objection is not a rejection; it is simply a request for more information. - Bo Bennett, Businessman and Author

Reject your sense of injury and the injury itself disappears. - Marcus Aurelius

Do not waste yourself in rejection; do not bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Even God has a sense of humor about how to handle repeated rejection. Take a look.

Turning Up Roses

Poem From God

How many times have you lamented the experience of constant rejections in life?
How many times have you dreaded getting up in the morning to face more rejection?
Writers, artists, actors, sales and customer service people intimately know rejection.
So do the unemployed know rejection, especially those without jobs for months, years.

The Deepest Pain = Layers

Do you ever sit down in an emotional puddle and roll in the misery of getting rejected?
“Who hasn’t?” would be a more accurate question. Everyone has visited the Pity Party.
People advise you to “Get over it!” but you can’t seem to pull yourself out of the dark pit.
Others tell you to quit being so sensitive but the hurt of rejection lingers with a stench.

You wonder to yourself how to deal effectively with the sting of repeated rejection?
It’s good to look at rejection from a completely different perspective: God’s.
How does the Creator of the Universe deal with repeated rejection? What’s His take?
God has a great sense of humor, for, after all, we are made in His Image, right?

on Glasses and it's Contents...

One day I sat down to listen to what God had to say about dealing with rejection.
And God said, “Do you think I don’t know rejection? Every day I go to work.
“Half the people on this planet wake up refusing to have anything to do with Me.
“I go to work anyway. The song of Love calls to their hearts and I await their answer.”

A Delightful Way Of Seeing Our Lives

Have you thought about how to impact the lives of others positively? It's so simple and easy to do.

From Denny: When was the last time you invited others to share your life, that everyday good moment?

This sweet photo of a baby elephant with its parents is adorable. How many times have you invited others to visit you - and then introduced a friend or a child to them because you knew it would be a positive impact upon both of them? It's like the idea of "paying it forward" just keeps moving on, creating goodness and happiness with every person touched.

Your life becomes what - and who - you cultivate.  Is it a sweet garden full of unending delights?

Quote

Won't you come into the garden? I would like my roses to see you. - Richard Brinsley Sheridan

How Do You Fit Into The Universe?

A simple spiritual technique to help train the ego effortlessly.

Our Life Perspective

From Denny: This quote can be received several ways. It can be seen from the point of view of how to keep your perspective is to consider something larger than just yourself. Just look up at the night sky and the massive universe several times a week and you will have no problem understanding your small size of importance. Talk about a sobering "ego check." :)

Technique for gaining spiritual discipline

So many people think spiritual development is about talking bad about yourself in order to create self-discipline. I've never bought into that kind of self-defeating mindset. Rather, when you practice regular routines like wordless star-gazing, it slowly calms the ego and trains it to see differently. It's a pleasant discipline to cultivate and works quite well to help you keep your balance in life. And it's just so simple. The fall sky is incredibly beautiful as we just had the Harvest Moon occuring on the Fall Solstice this year - a rare event that happens about every 20 years.

Moving physically helps change our perspective

Take a look at this quote as well from another angle. When you are experiencing adversity - be it job loss, divorce, death of a partner - it's helpful to stop all the helter skelter emotions by literally getting up from the couch and walk outside to improve your perspective. It's amazing how moving the physical body can do wonders for helping you to change your mental or emotional outlook.

How you fit into the universe

While this quote was most likely aimed at the arrogant or the self-centered it is useful to remove all self-condemnation to come into the awareness of how you fit in the universe. You will never discover that connectedness if you focus upon where you are not going rather than enjoying Life right where you are right now. Right now is becoming the future. Isn't it so much better to greet the future with a smile?

* If you do not raise your eyes you will think that you are the highest point. - Antonio Porchia, Voces, 1943, translated from Spanish by W.S. Merwin

How Do We Prepare Ourselves For Change?

*** Thoughts on how to get started on the road to embracing Change fearlessly.

From Denny: The subject of change has both intrigued and frightened humanity from the very beginning of Time. We create order in our societies by setting up boundaries, laws and rules of behavior. Eventually, those laws - and societal expectations - become rigid, pushing back against necessary healthy change.

Change is the vehicle to take us to our path of growth, personally and societally. When change is denied too long the transformation process can be violent. We experienced that as a country here in America when we finally decided to grow past the societal ill of slavery and it created a Civil War of many long years.

The same is true of personal growth in the area of change. If we deny small changes over a long period of time, then we are overdue, and it can be traumatic when change flips us over and spanks us for being so late to the party.

Every day for the next week, take about 10 minutes to consider current change in your life. Perhaps consider changes you would like to make. Start small with something as benign as cleaning out a cluttered kitchen or bathroom drawer.

What you will find with a small project like this is how it will trigger memories and previous thoughts you did not have the time previously to spend contemplating. It's like you pull up this short internal "To Do" List. It gives your mind time free to roam, think deeply and ultimately rest.

If you spend a few minutes like this contemplation every day - or a few times a week - you will benefit. How will you benefit? You will become more emotionally and mentally flexible. It's that flexibility that helps us adapt quickly when change comes our way.

This deep thinking helps build you a strong spiritual foundation as you are profoundly connected with your spiritual self at this time. It's your special place of acceptance and warm hospitality any time of the day or night upon which you can draw when needed as if it were a deep well: your spirit.

Quote

* It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not. - Heraclitus (540 BC - 480 BC), from Diogenes Laertius, Lives of Eminent Philosophers

Have You Ever Thought About The Process of Success?

*** Encouragement Quote From famous Award Winning Novelist

From Denny: Right now the Gulf Coast and even the rest of America needs to read some refreshing and mindful encouragement quotes to help us keep going. So much seems to be coming at us through this chaotic economy, severe job loss and underemployment causing bankruptcies and home foreclosures - and now the huge Gulf oil spill from BP who still has not found a way to slow down or stop the broken well leaks. There are over 100 million gallons of oil spilled and more arriving every day to the tune of two million gallons a day. It's an environmental disaster that has everyone in America talking and wondering about how to move ourselves to less harmful forms of energy.

Current times feel dire to million of Americans and millions more around the world as we all go through some universal adjustment of attitude and lifestyle changes. Meanwhile, it helps to focus upon wise thoughts and comforting thoughts to help us through the transition.

I thought I'd start with this quote from famous author James A. Michener. He had a lot of adversity in his life and well understood the difficulties of maintaining a good attitude and continuing to persevere. He was abandoned by his birth parents and was adopted by a woman of few means yet she had a love of books and learning with which she ignited a passion in him to write. Michener went on to work his way across America and later joined the Navy where he traveled to the South Pacific. With all his financial success he never did find out who were his birth parents.

Michener well understood how we slowly build our character into towering strength, how we pursue our dreams and how we finally succeed at achieving the kind of life we always desired. His quote here addresses mental toughness that can only be forged through trial and error on our part.

Where Does Hope Guide Us On Our Life Path?

*** Views today: 7, 899 and Thank You!

*** Read an insightful quote about Hope that will put to rest all the naysayers against the practice of Hope as useful.

From Denny: Contemplation of one good thought like this quote can be illuminating. Did you ever consider the power of Hope from another angle other than to lift up our hearts from despair? Did you ever consider the power of Hope in another way other than to help give us the energy to struggle on? What's great about this quote is it's wisdom of how the Universe employs Hope to lead us on our spiritual path to our greatest achievements! It's like the old paraphrased adage: If you don't open the door, you can't walk into the room.

Quote

* If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes. - St. Clement of Alexandra

Hope: Unborn Baby Grabs onto Doctors Hand in Surgery

*** Views Today: 9,552 and Thank You!

*** Hope begins before we are born. Read baby Samuel's story.

From Denny: Hope begins in the silence of the darkest moment in our lives. Just like a small candle can suddenly illuminate a dark room, so too can Hope lift up our hearts to believe again after disappointment or failure.

The Beauty that shines from Hope is its courage to sing when we are overwhelmed by the dark, summoning the light, growing the light, causing us to become the light. Hope is a quiet Power found within all of us.

Quote

* Hope is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark. - Anonymous

Quoted from the photographer Faithful Chant on her flickr page:

A picture began circulating in November. It should be 'The Picture of the Year,' or perhaps, 'Picture of the Decade.' It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the U S paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta . She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope.' The text explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of 21-week- old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.'

Little Samuel's mother said they 'wept for days' when they saw the picture. She said, 'The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness; it's about a little person.' Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.

Pass it on. The world needs to see this one!

Does Hope Touch Your Soul?

*** Views Today: 13,385 and Thank You!

*** A quote about Hope from poet Emily Dickinson.

From Denny: Leave it to a life long sensitive and spiritual poetess to create such an elegant line about Hope. Emily Dickinson was a severe introvert who explored her inner world like an extreme sport adventurer. She had little interest in her outer world, shunning it. Emily had few contacts with people outside her tight knit family and she preferred it that way. She lived a lot like a monk, contemplating God and the meaning of Life.

What I like about this particular quote is it elegantly describes - with stunning accuracy - how Hope lightly touches our souls. It's as if Hope gently glides in through the mists of our troubled minds and chaotic lives, quietly stroking our faces to engage. Then, once the glimmer of awareness peeks out to greet it, Hope settles in to be our silent constant companion to get us through the crisis.

Quote

* Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul. - Emily Dickinson

Here is the actual poem: Emily Dickinson (1830–86). Complete Poems. 1924.

Part One: Life

XXXII

HOPE is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Sometimes What You Sideline is a Good Thing

*** Views today: 13,815 and Thank You!

Bumble bee and hollyhock flower by audreyjm529 @ flickr

From Denny: How many times have we all heard the story of someone who succeeded at their greatest desire in life without realizing they barely stood a chance at achieving that success? It would seem all the stats were stacked against them yet they succeeded anyway.

Many times it is easy to "over think" a situation or relationship. We can get caught up in planning in too much detail, thinking we can control how Life unfolds. When we do all that planning we tend to be in a stop position. All those strategic goals and time lines for achieving them rarely works out that way - especially if you are on a spiritual path in life.

You can be the most methodical practical person around and I guarantee your plans will get sidelined by the Universe if something more important is to be learned, witnessed or assisted. After all, the greatest honor and job in this Life is to assist another soul in their journey through Life.

The key to success is always to be moving, breathing, living. The best way to succeed is to live in the moment, glide to the next moment and then assess how you feel about it all as you go along. And with that last sentence this quote will give you a grin!

3 Positive Attitude Quotes to Help Shape Your World

*** Views today: 7,291 and Thank You!

From Denny: Lately, the way the economy has been shifting continually under our feet, never knowing what to expect from month to month, it's a good idea to cultivate a positive attitude. After all, what does a negative attitude get us beyond a moment of acting like a safety valve to blow off frustration and anger?

The problem comes when we stay stuck in anger and frustration. When Life seems to be constantly coming at you - and you know darned well it isn't Lady Karma paying a visit but you have to deal with it anyway - catch your balance by giving yourself and your loved ones around you a refocus.

It's important for us not to react to situations but rather step back, slow down, think and then, after pondering for a while, even a few days, to then act. And when you do act, act in progressive stages, a slow step at a time and observe how the situation presents itself.

As you slow down the resolution of the issue you will be able to clearly see which step is the best to take and which step to succeed that one. Eventually, you work your way through the problem or situation. It seems to be in our American DNA that we want instant gratification and instant one step solutions to complex problems. Well, Life just doesn't work that way or they wouldn't call it "spiritual testing." :)

What's also important for our refocus is to remember we didn't come into this world just to pay bills but rather to impact our world in a positive light. In order to successfully fulfill ourselves we need to quit allowing others to keep our emotions in a tail spin like the tail wagging the dog.

We are spiritual people living in a physical world not the other way around. We have more power to address our circumstances if we only take the time to listen inwardly to our spiritual heart that contains all the wisdom of the ages and the universe.

To finish our refocus when Life presses in make sure to add Hope to the list. Hope keeps our attitude from falling off a cliff into despair. It's also a reminder that just as our situation changed for the negative or chaotic it will change again into the positive and the peaceful - if only we will focus upon that good thought. In no time Life will greet us with our positive focus as if to say, "I don't know what you were stressing about. See? You knew what to do all along and everything worked out right."

Are You Stuck in Life Not Knowing Where to Go Next?

*** Views today: 8,623 and Thank You!

From Denny: At some point in our lives we have all experienced this situation - feeling stuck. There are some useful questions we can ask ourselves to help us examine where we are and why we are planted there:

* Am I in waiting mode, knowing to wait until the opportunity crosses my path, so should I continue waiting because I'm in perfect timing?

* Am I afraid to advance because I'm afraid of what I don't know as opposed to what I do know?

* Am I stuck because of a previous traumatic event or string of events that just zapped the will out of me and I'm burdened with self-doubt, fear and guilt?

Sometimes, we aren't stuck but only that our spirit has us waiting for the right timing for something - and that process can go on for years - like waiting for the right person to marry. Maybe both of you needed 20 years to mature before meeting so that your marriage will turn out successful.

Other times, especially for creative people like artists, musicians and writers it takes decades to mature both in the craft and the inner person before success beats a path to your door. Many a classical composer did not reach the height of their best written music until they were in their late 50's, even when they had been writing since a child. It isn't enough to be talented unless you also develop some serious emotional intelligence to complement your artistry.

People are often frustrated after a serious of setbacks in life and start to question even the smallest things in their lives - like something so silly as to why they like bananas. That's when you know it's time to take a deep breath, step back, exhale and sit down to collect your thoughts quietly. That's when the rational mind is trying to logically figure out a situation and can't get its balance. And that's when it's time to let go of that and allow your spiritual mind to lead. The spiritual mind generally leads at a slower more deliberate pace, carefully picking and choosing the exact moments to act with force of will and power of decision.

If you want a refresher course on what this feels like, then watch the 2000 movie called The Legend of Baggar Vance. The whole movie is set up to bring back a golfer from his war trauma, his self-doubting and interfering rational mind, and help him blossom back into his natural life swing that comes only from his spiritual depths, unique only to him. Here's a bit of dialogue quoted from that pivotal moment when the golfer rediscovered and got back in touch with his spiritual self.

The Legend of Bagger Vance Movie

Bagger Vance (Will Smith) is a caddy that offers advice about more than the game to young golfer Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon, right) in Dreamworks' The Legend of Bagger Vance - 2000

Quote

Bagger Vance:
What I'm talkin about is a game... A game that can't be won only played...

Rannulph Junuh: You don't understand...

Bagger Vance: I don't need to understand... Ain't a soul on this entire earth ain't got a burden to carry he don't understand, you ain't alone in that... But you been carryin' this one long enough... Time to go on... lay it down...

Rannulph Junuh: I don't know how...

Bagger Vance: You got a choice... You can stop... Or you can start...

Rannulph Junuh: Start?

Bagger Vance: Walkin...

Rannulph Junuh: Where?

Bagger Vance: Right back to where you always been... and then stand there... Still... real still... And remember...

Rannulph Junuh: It's too long ago...

Bagger Vance:
Oh no sir it was just a moment ago... Time for you to come on out the shadows Junuh... Time for you to choose...

Rannulph Junuh: I can't...

Bagger Vance: Yes you can... but you ain't alone... I"m right here with ya... I've been here all along... Now play the game... Your game... The one that only you was meant to play... Then one that was given to you when you come into this world... You ready?... Stike that ball Junuh don't hold nothin back give it everything... Now's the time... Let yourself remember... Remember YOUR swing... That's right Junuh, settle yourself... Let's go... Now is the time, Junuh...

How Can You Help Your Child Keep Their Balance And Yours?

*** Views today: 14,920 and Thank You!

From Denny: This delightful photo of a child trying to keep her balance as she carefully steps onto a precarious path visually gives power to this quote. Parenting is a hit or miss activity some days as you feel your way through a sitation. Parenting is a new discovery every day as your child grows.

An interesting thought is that your child is also feeling their way through a situation, often wondering what to decide next on their path. Life is full of the uncertain and the unknown, requiring a lot of careful stepping and deep thought. Sometimes, Life comes at us so fast and furious there is no time to consider but rather we must react immediately. That's when you trust your instincts - your spirit - to act. The minute you start to wonder about whether you should trust yourself, invariably you end up taking the wrong path. Who hasn't been there at least once in their life - especially as a young child?

The way to parent your child successfully for these sudden difficult situations is something so simple if you keep a present and open mind to regularly practice it. You won't lastingly build their self-confidence by an excessive praise culture of everything they do or say is perfect. Often that results in emotional laziness or arrogance later in life. While this technique may be well intended and works well for children under the age of two or three years old, it can lead to cynicism as the child grows older. By the age of seven they think their parents are hopelessly lame and clueless, resulting in disrespect toward you.

But rather, the most successful technique is to praise them to others when they are nearby to hear but not in the room. They get to overhear you talking to a neighbor or a friend about how that day they did something remarkable. Sometimes, it's far more effective to witness praising than it is to experience a direct interaction. It's just human nature that our egos so enjoy hearing someone talked good about us. How many times have adult children happened upon a moment like this to discover to their astonishment just how much their parents truly did love and appreciate them - and actually admire their abilities? Try the indirect technique for your kids to learn how much you respect them. Then they will return the favor and respect you.

Spiritual Energy: Can Simple Words Add to Our Quality of Life?

*** Views today: 9,992 - Thank You!

Awakening photo by Pyrogas Sipo

From Denny: From time immemorial humanity has been given warnings about using our words with forethought and not with rash or cruel intent. There are karmic backlashes to be experienced if we go too far. In every religion or spiritual discipline - from the pagan to Christian to the Koran, even to today's movie "The Secret" - words are examined as important for our personal vision.

The current toxic, and excessive, partisan politics as recently demonstrated by Republican Senator Jim Bunning holding up unemployment checks to the needy across America just to advance his political agenda to make a Democratic President look bad, is a fine example to illustrate. Lying, as is common with the current Republican Party political style, has repercussions as well. Sure, we can not all be expected to like each other - all warm and fuzzy and kum bah yah style - but we can make the effort for self-discipline in order to create a more civil society.

Have you ever noticed, whether it's in politics on a national level, or at home with one of your spouse's family members, that an individual on a scorching words self-destruct acts like a black hole with everyone around them? They literally suck all the joy and energy out of the atmosphere, leaving everyone around them exhausted from trying to counter or avoid them. We all have destructive work bosses, family members or "friends" like that at some point in our lives.

Sure, we all get angry about a situation or politics at one time or another. The energy of anger is to be treated carefully and respectfully. It is a powerful energy that we must learn how to discipline rightly if and when we use it. The true object of well managed anger is to correct an injustice, correct an unbalanced situation or bring awareness to someone not focused in that direction.

The way to that discipline is to not involve your personal ego in the anger. Tough to do at first. Ally your ego and spirit with that of your Higher Self, God, Spirit, All That Is (whatever your favorite term) and choose to see situations from that higher level.

When you feel anger come over you, ask how to dispense it properly. When done properly the energy of anger can bring excellent benefits for others in their lives - like when a child is properly disciplined without malice, abuse or violence. That child changes course and charts a more beneficial path because of a parent who could discipline their anger in order not to be destructive with that authority and energy. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the energy of anger as a spiritual tool that must be treated with utmost care and respect.

Returning back to words in general affecting your vision, your life path and the lives of others... Keep in mind one thought every time you begin to speak or write: What do I wish to accomplish here? Is it for the betterment of others or is it only to give glory to my ego and my need for status or attention from others? This is the first step to learning how to handle the spiritual energy as it flows more and more to you from your Higher Self, Spirit.

There is nothing wrong about choosing not to fill the air with words just for the sake of making small talk conversation. It's fine to just observe others, wishing them goodwill in their attitudes toward those to whom they are speaking.

When you feel the inner urging, knowing it is time to speak, make it words that others will have food for thought for months and years down the road. My heart has always been warmed when someone brought up to me or my husband seven years later something we spoke to them as counsel for a situation. That recounting validates to us that we were giving out spiritual energy that benefited that person.

Words. They are tiny powerful things in our lives. Words can fly upon the wings of Spirit and make a better world. Have you considered your words today?

7 Greatest Peace Quotes Ever

*** Views today: 8,523 - Thank You!

*** Inspirational quotes to pierce our thinking, offering understanding and solutions to help our families, friends and countries along in Peace reconciliations. Incredible photos.

Quest for Peace

There will always be those who reject Peace, both internationally and at home in our own families as they choose to remain contentious. Endeavor to be at Peace with others as much as possible, sometimes by just walking away from a useless fight you know will accomplish nothing. Often that is enough to keep things from bubbling over into a full scale war. Gives new meaning to the phrase “keeping the Peace,” doesn’t it?

As I was searching for some great quotes I was struck by how many were attributed to President John F. Kennedy. Though his tenure was brief at the White House he was known as a deep thinker. Early in his Presidency he was facing some of the world’s first nuclear attacks since WWII. He was keenly aware of war and humanity’s mind.

The notion of Peace is often discussed on an international scale, especially by Peace activists. They talk about Peace as an outward manifestation of military battles causing destruction and loss of life.

From another point of view Peace is discussed by spiritual and self-improvement people as acquiring Inner Peace. Of course, the full blown version of war is sending one’s military into battle. But where does it begin? In the heart of mankind. When humanity chooses to be at Peace internally then the outer manifestations will cease. It’s a simple concept yet difficult to implement until the desire reaches critical mass.

These are some intriguing thoughts to ponder.

From Denny Lyon, 3 March 2009: Mankind must not only seek Peace. We must pursue it with all the deeply felt sincerity of our hearts. We must pursue Peace with the diligent work of our hands every day in every relationship we know. Peace comes a little at a time, rippling outward until one day it touches everyone - and convinces all.

A story about the ultimate Peace which brings an end to war.

Once upon a time...

There was a wonderful story found on the internet. It was so badly written this writer decided to help it along to spread its wings, delivering its beautiful message.

And the Seventh Quote is in the form of a short story:

The Wise Old Man and The Boy

There was an old man who lived, lonely, in a humble house of stone lost in the country.

One night someone violently broke into his home. It was a foolish young boy who had a knife and looked very scared. He said to the old man: “Give me everything you have or I kill you, old man!”

The elder said to the boy: “There is not much here. Take everything you see; it’s yours.”

The youngster was now even more fearful because of the calm reaction from the owner. Violently he began to gather everything in sight: some ornaments, a piece of cloth, a candle holder and other worthless simple crafts.

The old man looked upon the boy quietly while he finished his search. With his hands full, he warned the old man, “Now I’ll go. Don’t follow me or you are dead!”

The foolish young boy left the small house. After some minutes of walking at a fast pace, the boy realized that someone was behind him, and, as he turned back, the elder said to him: “Don’t be afraid; it’s me.”

“I told you not to follow me, silly old man!”

“When you left I remembered I had this golden ring in a box. Here it is; take it.” And he turned away from the boy, leaving to return to his house.

The boy was so shocked with what was happening that he took the ring and started running wildly in circles while he shouted, “Madman, madman!”

It had started to rain.

A couple of hours later, the elder heard a knock on his door. When he opened the door he saw the young thief, wet with rain - and tears.

“What do you want now? I gave you everything I had!” declared the old man.

“No, you didn’t; give me everything,” said the boy desperately.

“Yes, I swear to you I did give you everything.”

“No, you gave me everything you had in your house but you didn’t give me what I really need.”

“I have nothing else to give.”

“Your Inner Peace, wise man, give me Peace; teach me, please,” the boy pleaded.

In that moment of decision a new path began – for both the old man and the boy. Now with a student to teach, the old man was lonely no longer. The boy would learn the wisdom of putting to rest his warring ways to achieve Peace. In time his turn will come to teach the ways of Peace to the next generation.

The Peace Rose released in celebration of ending World War II

Why stand by and allow a third world war to occur? You can do something about it every day as you cultivate Peace in your own daily life. May Peace be with you, always...

5 Important Inspirations

*** Views today: 3,201 - Thank You!

Photo by Victor Bezrukov @ flickr

From Denny: What can I say? I can seriously identify with the first quote by Einstein. There is a lot of opposition out there in the world from fearful folks. Mediocre minds are not necessarily people with little intellect but often are suffering from a low emotional intelligence and spiritual training, truly a lack of wisdom of how to interact appropriately with others before jumping to conclusions. People often fight a new vision, or even a suggestion, before actually hearing it described fully. They make assumptions without a full understanding, dismissing it quickly.

Henry Ford is accurate in his comment that once you stop yourself inwardly your progress outwardly suffers too. Our inner self really is the engine that drives our lives toward success, mediocrity or failure.

Who knew Goethe could be inspirational? :) He has a very good point that the journey is to be cherished for it changes us forever; the achieved goal suddenly pales in insignificance.

This Japanese Proverb addresses mediocrity in our vision and yet counsels us not to be rash in our decisions.

Napolean Hill, another favorite motivator, refocuses us on our basic instinct of desire and how to differentiate and isolate it from other emotions in order to benefit.

Quotes

* Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. - Albert Einstein

* Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right. - Henry Ford

* What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. - Goethe

* Vision without action is daydream. Action without vision is nightmare. - Japanese Proverb

* Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything. - Napoleon Hill

What Is The Color of Life?

From Denny: This is such a wonderful quote from a new StumbleUpon friend hailing from Ireland that you will enjoy. It's a statement from his SU blog bio. The Irish have always had a way with words! :)

His is such an interesting perspective that really goes a long way to helping you refocus and get your balance back when you have been experiencing hardships in your life. With this chaotic economy there sure is a lot of that going on as you only have to turn on the news channels.

Thank you, ClovisM from StumbleUpon, for such wonderful inspiring thoughts! You might want to visit his page for more inspiration as he has a lot of interesting choices to enjoy.

Where is More Gold Located Than You Thought?

Here's a gold fairy sighting...

From Denny: Napolean Hill is always good for an unusual turn of thought! And, on Monday mornings, we sometimes need all the inspiration we can get. What I enjoy about this quote is how it directs us to value ourselves more than what we value outside of ourselves. It is stunning in its implications of unlimited treasures!

Quote

* More gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has been taken from the earth. - Napolean Hill
